Dear Texas Licensed Childcare Association Member,

Welcome to TLCCA!  We are happy that you have chosen to be a part of our network of Early Childhood educators across the state of Texas!

My name is Melissa Horton, and I am honored to be serving as your TLCCA President for the 2018-2019 term.  I stumbled across this wonderful organization in January of 2013 when I was given the opportunity to represent my company as a corporate member on the TLCCA Board of Directors.  My passion was advocating for our industry during the Legislative sessions, and that is still what motivates me to devote so much of my time and energy to TLCCA to this day.

I was able to travel down to the Capitol to meet with the Representatives in my district early that same year, and made another trip down a few months later to speak at a Committee Hearing on a very important piece of legislation that was going to dramatically affect our industry if it were to pass.  As we head into the 86th Legislative Session in January, I am very encouraged that we will continue to be well represented by our lobbyist Seth Winick with HMWK, who has done an outstanding job for us for many years now.  Be sure to stay up to date during the session, and be on the lookout for “call to action” emails should we encounter anything that requires all hands on deck.  Thank you in advance for your support in this area!

We enjoyed meeting so many of you in Grapevine, and are already looking forward to our Spring Conference in Houston March 22nd-23rd!  I am so thankful for all of my fellow Board Members who spend countless hours serving our TLCCA members, and it has been a true joy to watch our organization continue to grow this past year.  Great things are in store, and we are glad to have you on board for the journey!

So stay alert to legislative happenings in January, register for our conferences when the time comes, and ask your childcare neighbors if they are members of TLCCA yet!  Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or would like to know how you can become more involved.  TLCCA@gmail.com

Sincerely,

Melissa Horton
